You have been spending money on ads for a few months I have a decent course but I'm not seeing tremendous profits or anything so I thought it would help a lot of people if I try to visually explain how the scaling process works and point out where people make the most mistakes

 okay so keep in mind this is just an example let's say this is the x axis which is representing time in terms of months and this is y-axis which is profit and loss this is zero let's say this is one month let's say this is 500 dollars in profits let's say this is minus 100 okay so zero is the point where you do your niche research design research you decide what it is you want to make then let's say you hire a designer you hire other people and you produce the book and let's say you invested a lot in production so right off the bat your overall profit and loss will go in negative so we're down 500 let's say at this point you're done with the production of the book you publish it and at this point you start ads so when you start ads for your book your ad set is not going to be profitable right off the bat the a course is gonna shoot up initially so this point will go down even more at this so let's say it takes like half a month to optimize the ad set now from here there are three main trajectories your ad set can take one is that we are able to get the ad set to our break even a course let's say it's 30 percent so if you get it to 30 we'll see a flat line here right we're not making a profit we're not making a loss or you can get the ad set to a really low a cost let's say 15 20 percent in that case the trajectory is gonna be slight profits or the echoes continues to be really bad 

 in that case, you continue to make a slight loss let's say we got the book down to 38, 30 percent a course we're breaking even and so that will go on for a while right so what's happening during this period is your conversion rate is going up you're getting reviews hence your relevancy score is going up hence you'll move up in organic rankings so once you start moving up in ranking for relevant keywords you will see exponential growth here it looks something like this it'll be an exponential increase and not a steady one so let's divide this into three phases the first phase is the production the second phase is the scaling and the third phase is basically once you're ranking high organically

okay so let's walk through all the phases the production phase common mistakes are not creating a quality product trying to cut corners not investing much in making the product don't do all that then once the book is published this is where people go wrong most people are clueless how to navigate this phase and hence they end up making a lot of mistakes so really try to understand what's happening here this is point a that we're starting the ads and this is point b where we are ranking high organically for relevant keywords that we are running ads to all the three trajectories have the potential of getting you to point b it's just that either you're gonna make a slight profit either you're gonna break even or you're gonna make a slight loss on the outset ideally you wanna aim for the first two trajectories but the key here is patience people are like oh it's been a few months

 this ad set is not going anywhere I'm not making any money overall I'm at a loss and they end up making the mistake of falling prey to emotional biases keep your emotions out of ads don't over-focus don't try to over-optimize the ad set to make money during this phase people get too obsessive about getting their ad set on this trajectory because it helps psychologically since people are like oh at least I'm going up but not all your assets are gonna get on this trajectory and that is fine that depends on a lot of different variables so even if you're breaking even on your ad set that's perfectly fine

 all you need to do is have patience let your books historical conversion rate go up let your book get tons of good reviews to let your relevance score increase obviously doing good research making a good product is a prerequisite for all of this just trust the process don't give up during this phase you will make money eventually have patience and that's pretty much the key to scaling that's about it for this Article
